I
I had some preconceived notions about what the staff would be like at this facility. Thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised. Everyone I met who was involved in the care of my 86‑year‑old mother was very competent, professional, and compassionate. I’m grateful to have been able to work with — and count on — the great staff at this facility!
A long time facility in the community. There have been a lot of updates to the facility lately! It’s good to see the owners putting so much into making it better for their residents!
This is a top tier facility. It’s a great place to send a family member for care!
Very poor care!!!
My mom is receiving good care, and the communication from staff is excellent. When my mom had a skin tear on her arm, Rose left no stone unturned to figure out what happened and made sure to communicate this to me. Collin, the activities director, is wonderful. I just attended a holiday party for the residents which was wonderfully planned, including very thoughtful gifts for each of the residents. If you are looking for a long term care facility for your loved one, I would highly recommend Hood River Post Acute.
Unique Review: I travel around the Pacific Northwest doing a variety of party events for “The Party Team”, and last Friday (12/19/25) I set up a casino party for the staff of Post Acute. Russell Carnegie was my client, and I got to meet most of the staff. You could tell they were cohesive even during a party, making sure everything was running smoothly for the residents and staff that were WORKING during their Holiday Party. I just want to say again to the Russell & the staff: 1. Thank you, for helping me with the chairs, and making a clear path to setup the event, and for being in fun jolly Christmas spirit. 2. From listening to your friendly party banter on the microphone and hearing Russell’s “ending credits” for an end of the year Holiday party (which I hear so often during parties), I say thank you for all being patient with each other, and remind you how important it is for the FAMILIES that you are taking gentle & patient care of their elders. Hope to see you next year, and remember you need an extra blackjack table next time! Lol!
Had to fight with staff for 1 week that they had my mom’s medication wrong. While my mom became not herself everyday, we had to fight for them to run test to find out what was going on. Sure enough when they finally agreed they found some health issues. There was however 2 nurses who were very helpful

If I could give zero stars, I would. My grandma was here for comfort care, and it was heartbreaking. She was left alone in a dark room and only checked on once a day. She couldn’t eat or drink by herself, and when we asked why no one was helping her, staff just said, “She’s on comfort care.” Comfort care should mean compassion and attention not abandonment. While a few staff members were kind, the overall care was neglectful, and inhumane. This place failed to provide even basic dignity or compassion. I would never recommend trusting your loved one to this facility. Please look elsewhere your family deserves better.

Sadly I have to give a bad review. The care was nice they did a better job with my Nana than the first place and was kind to her. But because of this one issue they get a one star. I bought my Nana a crystal cross to shine in her window. A couple days after my Nana was life flighted we came back for her stuff, because she wasn’t coming back and was passing away. I went into the room and the crystal cross was gone. It was stolen. Then they told us they didn’t know she wasn’t coming back. Wrong. My uncle called to tell them in the middle of the night when she was life flighted she wasn’t coming back. One of the nurses didn’t deliver the message to the people who run this place. Two we called to complain about the cross being stolen, even told them it was not in the room when we came in. They ignored my mom on the phone looked in the room anyway and tried blaming it on us saying someone came to pick up the stuff. No we said on the phone it wasn’t there when we picked up the stuff. I was there. Then they are like we will call back if we find it. No call back. Then my uncle called to complain. After that no call back. This is unprofessional. If someone broke it confess. If it was stolen by a resident you should be looking in rooms. If it was stolen by a staff member. Hope karma delivers. You stole the last memory I have of my Nana as she told me how beautiful it was. That memory got ripped away from me because of you people. I’m not only hurt I’m angry.

Update: dad passed last week peacefully during his afternoon nap. I’m am reflecting on how grateful I am for the care my father received while at the care center. Everyone there treated him like family, so kind, patient, caring, always willing to engage, and always accountable. I don’t have the words to adequately convey my appreciation for how we were treated there. I’m humbled by it all. Thanks you for the dignity and quality you helped to provide my father while at HRCC. Thank you. Thank you. After a fall and a stay at the hospital, dad has transitioned to a skilled nursing facility, hood River care center for therapy, support, and assessment. Our experience, up to this point, has been terrific. What a great, caring, and competent staff! Couldn’t be happier with the level of care my father is receiving. Andrea, in particular, front office business manager, has continued to impress, going above and beyond on a number of occasions. So thankful for everyone at HRCC. I feel dad is safe, cared for, and cared about. Thank you!!!!! Quick update. It has been 2 years since dad entered the facility, and we are beyond ecstatic about the care he receives. What a special place, staffed by caring amazing people. So humbled and grateful. Honestly, wow.

I received my CNA training from the HR Care Center and from everything I observed and experienced, the facility absolutely shows just how much better a smaller community setting allows staff to truly provide compassionate care. My training was a wonderful and delightful experience thanks to our instructor. This is a place I would personally trust with my loved ones.
I would like to thank all the staff at the Hood River Care Center who helped my Dad recently. He spent 3 weeks after having a fall. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. Covid-19 has taken its tole on all, especieally front line workers and their families. We know you continue to make great sacrafices to serve others and please know it is appreciated by those family members of your patients. The staff helped my Dad get set up on his tablet so we could video conference with him and that helped him not feel so abandoned. And they kept an eye on him. Keep up the good work. Psalms 19:17 says, “The one showing favor to the lowly is lending to Jehovah, and he will repay him for what he does.” Thank you so much for the support.
